Being in this business for over 25 years, I have been through many of the ups and downs in the tanning industry. The days of hooking a tanning bed up, putting a sign in the door and having customers pile in the lobby are long gone. But that doesn\u2019t mean we can\u2019t offer a needed service and make a profit.  I joined the JCTA the first year it was formed. I originally became a member of the JCTA for 2 reasons; insurance cost savings and joining a team that will fight for the survival of my salons. Now 10+ years later I continue to be a member for more than those 2 reasons.  I use to collect piles of articles on anything related to the benefits of UV. I no longer have to collect and cut-out anything since the members website is packed with hundreds of updated articles and studies that show tanning in moderation can be beneficial. I really like the new JCTA Facebook and Google ads; they seem to be helping spread the balanced UV message to potential clients about our industry. But the most important reason I continue to be a member is because I know I am part of an organization that has my back. Our adversaries are never going to quit spreading negative news about our industry and I know the JCTA will continue to fight to ensure our tanning salons get proper factual representation in the media arena.
