So Whipple stood all day working the trade show floor in the <strong>PC Tan<\/strong> booth after spending the morning running the 26.2 mile marathon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">&#8220;I had no intention of running a marathon in Nashville since I had just completed one 4 weeks prior in New Hampshire,&#8221; Whipple recalled. &#8220;Smart Tan&#8217;s Joe Levy sent me a message on <span id=\"7864da73-d8e6-41a3-bec4-3343dba0abf1\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"018bb596-9fed-460d-868a-75d398e233a0\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"9417ba50-61a2-41b1-ba73-fec91e4e494a\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"b8ff5e3c-6b41-4de6-bcfb-33336b4c2508\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"4a830a30-6a1d-4556-adb8-a75296352cdd\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\">facebook<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> about a marathon that weekend. I looked at the details and figured, &#8220;What the heck?&#8221; Seeing as the race started a few blocks from the hotel at 7 a.m. <span id=\"480cd42f-bcd8-4927-b7a6-22a11fa43dbb\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"9afb2f4a-5bc3-4049-bfcb-51bbdced458d\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"675a9ac4-21c1-4665-9146-0005e058771f\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"4dbb3a72-7069-4cc2-bdd9-9c2b2c744c6a\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"159512c3-e17a-4482-9cbf-502ac6169b0d\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\">and<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> I didn&#8217;t have to be on the floor until 11:30 a.m. <span id=\"3a52ca28-01de-457d-b768-ecce9210b495\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"f721a0a9-55d4-4941-a87f-05f0ff21ba12\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"2d83804c-58f1-48d5-9d02-724d2774f584\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"9c447487-e378-4aa6-9546-b8b96917c7dd\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"4fa48f98-e527-4c43-8fa8-046dd455ec59\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\">how<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> could I pass it up?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Oh, and did we mention he <em>won<\/em> the race?<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\"> Whipple\u00a0<span id=\"7c0cc8d6-3db2-4dc1-996b-ada35de2935e\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"c0bc14f9-be80-4f12-9979-da6a46a865fa\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"8e8539a5-85f7-4775-b482-719fb11bd80b\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"4c52bfda-c6a7-4a9f-9cad-e3d1e465a16b\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"c32d0574-2d58-4d10-b764-aec1194e8da1\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\">technically finished<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> second in the event. But a poorly marked course and no on-course marshals led to a wrong turn and some <span id=\"0845d104-77bb-4426-be3b-9a1987d446a1\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"309e2d82-e7b0-4a29-b24a-d372f1372198\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\">backtracking<\/span><\/span>. &#8220;From the start until about mile 13 I had a bike and <span id=\"16cd28a6-cc39-43b1-a31a-4b4aeaa916bc\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"681e31c8-f79b-4e0d-a990-c22ea2ecdd44\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\">a police escort<\/span><\/span> in front of me,&#8221; Whipple <span id=\"cf27a3f9-8642-46b2-805d-32bb75b52181\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\"><span id=\"1f186e98-1973-49ad-b133-a7b7a5f61f8f\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\">recalled<\/span><\/span>. &#8220;The bike escort stopped at mile 9 and the police escort stopped at mile 13. At mile 15 I came to a slight left\/right and had to guess. There were no signs or arrows.
