  1. Be generous with praise.<\/strong> Here\u2019s an easy one! Don\u2019t underestimate the power of praise from the CEO. Try to compliment every improvement that you see your team members make.<\/li>\n
  2. Get rid of the managers.<\/strong> Allowing your staff to work together as a team rather than reporting to one individual can do wonders. Letting people work together on an equal level will often produce better, faster results because they don\u2019t want to let the team down.<\/li>\n
  3. Make your ideas theirs.<\/strong> Instead of saying \u201cI\u2019d like you to do it this way,\u201d try \u201cDo you think it\u2019s a good idea if we do it this way?\u201d<\/li>\n
  4. Never criticize or correct.<\/strong> Rather than pointing a finger, try an indirect approach to correcting mistakes. Ask, \u201cWas that the best way to approach the problem? Why not? Have any ideas on what you could have done differently?\u201d<\/li>\n
  5. Make everyone a leader.<\/strong> \u201cHighlight your top performers\u2019 strengths and let them know that because of their excellence, you want them to be the example for others,\u201d Pozin writes. \u201cYou\u2019ll set the bar high and they\u2019ll be motivated to live up to their reputation as a leader.\u201d<\/li>\n
  6. Take an employee to lunch once a week.<\/strong> Don\u2019t make it a formal policy \u2013 just surprise them.\u00a0 It\u2019s an easy way to remind employees that you appreciate their work.<\/li>\n
  7. Give recognition and small rewards.<\/strong> Offer praise for an accomplishment during a meeting or run contests with prizes. Offering small tangible rewards like trophies, plaques or gift certificates won\u2019t break the bank and can be a great motivator.<\/li>\n
  8. Throw company parties.<\/strong> Organize events throughout the year to keep up the team morale.<\/li>\n
  9. Share the rewards\u2014and the pain.<\/strong> Show that you\u2019re thankful by including everyone in the celebration when things are going well. But if there are disappointments, share those too. Be transparent and honest and make sure the team knows where the company stands.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
