Social sharing website Pinterest earlier this week added features geared towards businesses, as described in the Mashable.com article “Pinterest Introduces Business Accounts and Tools.”

The ability to create business accounts on Pinterest will, for the first time, allow you to display just your business name rather than a first and last name.  A business page will also give you the ability to verify your account using a hidden line of code on your website.

Companies that already have a Pinterest page will have the opportunity to convert it to a business account. As you create your business account, you will be promted to add “Pin It” and “Follow” buttons, as well as new widgets that showcase your pins, to your website.

Along with the new tools, Pinterest also unveiled new terms of service to specifically allowing for commercial use of the site.

According to Pinterest Product Manager Cat Lee, “this announcement is just about taking that first step” in introducing a business model.

If you haven’t jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon already, it may be time!
