With this year almost over and 2014 just around the corner, we’ll hear a lot of folks talking about New Year’s resolutions. I never like New Year’s resolutions, personally. It always seems silly to me that we would continue to do dumb, unproductive or misguided activities for most of the year then wait and think we could resolve those things away at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve and everything would suddenly be better.
That seems more like wishful thinking than accurate thinking. One of the best features of being a small business owner is that we can change direction in an instant if need be. While a big stodgy corporate business forms a focus group, hired a team of consultants and has endless meetings, you and I can create a new strategy and implement changes in hours if needed.
This may very well be the year when your nimbleness and willingness to accept rapid change will be imperative to your continued survival.
