Characterized by his enthusiasm and ambition, Brendan McCarthy joined the Cosmedico team in 2012 after working with names like Anheuser Busch, M3 and Seaboard Products. Ten years as an account manager has taught him to build relationships and keep striving, but his current position helps him Cosmedico and their salon customers shine.

Q: Do you have any personal interests that make you better at your job?

A: I have a love for hockey and sales that comes from my father. He was a hockey nut, the captain of his team in high school. From the time he got out of college until now, he’s been a hockey salesman He builds hockey rinks and sells everything that goes with it.

I used to play on two or three different teams at a time; I could never sit still, and that just became part of my outlook. Working with different teams and players would be uncomfortable sometimes, but that made me focus. If I got too comfortable I wouldn’t focus as much. Having those new experiences made me play up a level.

Q: How does that translate to your work at Cosmedico?

A: I used to work in a job where it was like the movie “Groundhog Day.” Here, every day is different; I help out with the warehouse, I might talk to out sales reps or vice presidents of companies, I might be in a different part of the country or the world. I like things to be fresh to keep me on my toes.
