In a stunning landscape known as Rogue Valley, Susan and Richard Krebs have made a home and a life. In their 21st year of marriage, they have put their roots down in this hidden gem: A small metropolitan area tucked in a sprawling terrain of mountains, lush greenery  and nature’s finest sites.

Susan had a long career in travel, working as a travel agent and a trainer for an airline; Richard worked at and later owned a high-end construction business. Together they enjoyed traveling to warm spots like Mexico and Hawaii. Susan’s fair Irish skin was sensitive to sunlight, so she worked on her base tan regularly to make the most out of those vacations.

Their daughter even worked for a local salon when she was 16. After she fell in love with the atmosphere, Susan considered starting a tanning business of her own. When a location became available 20 miles from their house, she and Richard didn’t hesitate for a moment. They opened Tan Ashland by October 2009, and took over a second location called Tan Medford one short year later.
