SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (July 23, 20014) – Today, the Vitamin D Council launched a fundraising pledge drive. The goal is to raise $60,000 in thirty days. The fundraiser takes place from July 23 to August 22 online at http://pledge.vitamindcouncil.org.
The Vitamin D Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, working to educate the public on vitamin D, sun exposure, and health.
“As a nonprofit, individual donations are the reason why we exist and continue to exist. We need community support in order to continue our efforts in spreading awareness of and knowledge on vitamin D and safe sun exposure,” says Dr. John Cannell, the Executive Director and Founder of the Vitamin D Council.
The fundraiser’s goal is to raise money to be able to complete certain projects that the Vitamin D Council aims to accomplish in the near future.
These projects include funding vitamin D research, building a network of health professionals who address vitamin D deficiency in their practice, translating the website into multiple languages, and initiating vitamin D wellness programs in local offices and beyond.
The Vitamin D Council is offering several gifts in exchange for donations, including a Vitamin D Enthusiast bundle for a donation of $100. The bundle consists of a UVA+B SunFriend monitor, a bottle of Biotech 5,000 IU vitamin D3 supplements, and a vitamin D t-shirt.
Donations ranging from $250 to $5000 have the opportunity to become more involved with the Vitamin D Council research and coverage process. Depending on the donation amount, this will involve collaborating with Vitamin D Council to create either a blog or a health summary. The donor will be able to sponsor the blog or health summary with their name.
“Every donation matters,” says Jeff Nicklas, Director of Operations of the Vitamin D Council. “We have a lot of exciting projects lined up, and we need support from as many people as possible to further our outreach efforts.”
