It was so nice to see many of you at the Smart Tan Nashville show last month. If you didn’t make it, you missed out on a great show and a real opportunity to grow your business and to expand your business mind. I imagine there were some owners who probably feel they are “too smart” or “too busy” to make it. They’ve been to this show or others before, but now think there is nothing left to discover. It’s a “been there, done that” mindset that neglects the enthusiasm that brought them into this business.
I don’t remember who said this, but it is truer now more than ever: “School is never our for the student.” When I was in high school, I couldn’t wait to get out. I felt like a convict sitting in prison scratching the days off of the calendar I drew on the cement wall. I wasn’t going to college, I already had a job and I knew I was going to run my own business. Looking back, the problem wasn’t that I didn’t want to learn, I just wasn’t interested in what they were teaching me. I didn’t care about calculus, how to write a haiku or make a wood bowl in shop class.
