Hundreds of thousands of Americans are represented by a coalition of advocacy groups that last week published an open letter urging Congress to repeal the federal excise tax on indoor tanning.
“The tax violates the President’s promise not to raise taxes on middle-class families and is another in a long line of problems with this broken legislation,” the coalition wrote in the letter to the House and Senate.
The coalition is comprised of 16 organizations: National Taxpayers Union, American Commitment, Americans for Tax Reform, Campaign for Liberty, Campaign to Free America, Center for Freedom and Prosperity, Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, DownsizeDC.org, FreedomWorks, Institute for Liberty, Less Government, Log Cabin Republicans, The National Center for Public Policy Research, Taxpayers Protection Alliance and Tea Party Nation.
The “Tanning Tax Repeal Act of 2015” is clearly gaining support, but it’s still very important that your representatives in Congress know how important this bill is to everyone involved in the industry.
With links provided by the American Suntanning Association, it takes less than a minute to send a pre-written letter to your representative. The ASA encourages everyone to call their representatives as well.
