In 2009, Amber Kitchen decided to join the world of tanning. She was 19, skin type 2 and wanted desperately to be tan. Her regular babysitting clients owned a tanning salon and asked her if she wanted a job at their salon, The Texas Tan. She grew to love the tanning salon experience, especially regular interaction with clients. Her days flew by with endless, fun conversations, and she was able to maintain that bronze tan she always wanted to attain. Before she know it, a part-time “job” turned into a career. As the manager of The Texas Tan, Amber Kitchen more than enjoys her career in the indoor tanning industry.
“At 19 I was just getting my foot in the door. I wasn’t sure I would be in the business this long. I started from the bottom and worked my way up. I’ve stayed because I genuinely love tanning. I also love my relationships with our clients. I have clients that tanned with the previous owners but stayed on because they enjoyed the company of our staff,” says Kitchen.
The Texas Tan has expanded into two locations. According to Kitchen, “If you you come in and want to chat for awhile and tan that’s fine. Prefer to get in and out? That’s fine too. We’re here to deliver a stress free environment.” At The Texas Tan, they provide southern hospitality with a splash of Texas flair.
