Four Steps to a Successful 2018

For most salon owners I either consulted with or talked to last year, 2017 seemed to be a pretty good year overall. Owners are reporting increased numbers of new members, tanning sessions and revenues. It looks as though we’ve stopped the bleeding of massive salon closings, and things are looking up.

While that is great news, my question to you is, “What are you going to do to maximize the opportunity and prosper for 2018?”

I have a plan for you to follow to ensure that you will prosper. Closely review each of these four steps to make 2018 your breakthrough year.

  1. Although it sounds corny, it’s true: People don’t plan to fail; they fail to plan. You need to immediately write down specific goals for what you want to accomplish this year. Your mind is an amazing machine, and when it’s challenged to do something that you make a priority, it has a way of figuring out how to accomplish the goal. Be very specific, like you demand a 10 percent increase in gross revenue, EFT revenues will be at least 50 percent of total revenues, and that you’ll create five new systems by January 31 to get new customers all year long. Remind yourself daily of your goals, and keep adding new ones as you check off the completed goals. I started using a new journal last year from Best Self that has helped me focus and complete my important goals.
