Smart Tan has been advised that field visits to tanning businesses by U.S. Food and Drug Administration inspectors should be expected to be more commonplace this year.

The FDA is “re-labeling” its field inspectors, and the Center for Devices and Radiological Health, which oversees tanning equipment, will be allotted “quite a few,” we’re told. Visits are random and inspections will focus on sunlamp products and their adherence to FDA rules and regulations.

It is an important reminder to be aware of protocol, but you should not have issues as long as you are honest with inspectors and following all rules and regulations. Also, be advised that FDA inspectors must declare themselves and show a picture form of ID upon their arrival.
