When Scott Nichols writes an article for Smart Tan magazine, he’s not actually offering you valuable insight simply out of the kindness of his heart. He does appreciate the opportunity to support salon operators who he can relate to, but that’s not his only motivation. Sharing his knowledge and experiences has also become part of Scott’s process as he seeks continual improvement as a person and professional. Providing advice for others is actually an effective learning tool as he evaluates the most important factors that will drive growth at Sunseekers by Rosie, the 12-location business he manages.

“To be honest, helping others is just an additional benefit. I do like to help others. This industry needs to be open and share more,” Nichols says. “But what I really want to do at the beginning of article is day ‘Dear Diary.’ It’s really writing to get what’s going on in my head on paper. Then I have that plan and idea written out and I can go back to our group and start sharing that with them.”

Now, Scott is taking his educational efforts a step further, contributing four sessions on management and tanning business leadership to Smart Tan’s online educational conference. Scott’s presentations are just one portion of the conference, featuring insight from the Smart Tan team and tanning businesses from around North America sharing their perspectives on enhancing EFT revenue, strategic upgrades, digital marketing, sunless, hiring and training, and maximizing counter sales.
