Formula for Success: How to make your most expensive products your best sellers

In most cases, an increase in the cost of goods a business provides is not welcomed by the proprietor. But the case of tanning and skin care products is a different story. The more expensive products become, the more money there is to be made for retail tanning businesses.

Tanning has evolved. The equipment has evolved. The prototypical tanning salon business model has evolved. Last but certainly not least, tanning products have evolved to include top-of-the-line skin care ingredients and performance that pair perfectly with today’s state-of-the-art tanning units and luxurious salon environments.

More than ever, tanning salons offer what you might call “affordable luxury.” Of course, tanning isn’t as cheap as it used to be, but compared to the enhanced experiences salons now provide and in relation to the rising costs of other beauty and spa treatments today, the value is even greater. On average, salons are becoming more luxurious, premium equipment is becoming more predominant, and prices are going up. The same is true of products. In that sense, the product price points that have become more common today are simply catering to a customer that’s willing to pay more for a far superior tanning experience and results.
