Your Salon Rebranding Checklist

Thursday, September 3rd, 2026

Thinking about a new name, refreshed image, or updated service focus? Late summer is the perfect time to start planning your fall transformation.

The tanning industry isn’t what it was five years ago—and neither is your business. More salons are shifting toward wellness, expanding services, and reevaluating how they present themselves to the world. If you’ve been thinking about updating your name, refining your image, or changing your brand focus, now’s the time to act.

Late summer provides a unique window: You have breathing room after the spring rush, time to prepare before fall, and a chance to reposition your business before the New Year wellness boom. Here’s a streamlined checklist to help you rebrand strategically, confidently, and without losing the identity your loyal customers already love.

  1. Clarify Your Why

Start by defining what’s driving the rebrand:

  • Are you shifting from tanning to tanning + wellness?
  • Are your current services and name misaligned?
  • Has your clientele evolved, or are you targeting a new demographic?
  • Are you repositioning to stay competitive or enter a new market?

Having a clear reason ensures every decision—from your logo to your tagline—stays on message.

  1. Audit Your Current Brand

Before building something new, take stock of what’s working:

  • What do customers say about your brand now?
  • Which services or messages resonate most?
  • What colors, visuals, or words are most associated with your identity?
  • Are there legacy elements (like a long-standing name or slogan) that are worth preserving or evolving?

This will help you rebrand with intention, not just for the sake of change.

  1. Define the New Brand Identity

Once you’ve reflected, get specific:

  • Name – Does it reflect your future direction (e.g., incorporating wellness, light therapy, skincare)?
  • Logo – Clean, modern, and easily recognizable.
  • Colors & Typography – Shift toward wellness cues: warm neutrals, soft gradients, clean sans-serif fonts.
  • Voice – Should your tone be energetic and playful, calm and professional, or aspirational and sleek?

Bonus tip: Create a short brand statement that sums up your mission. This becomes the anchor for all messaging moving forward.

  1. Update Your Service Focus

Your brand should reflect what you offer—and what you stand for. If you’re expanding into red light therapy, body sculpting, halotherapy, or skin-focused wellness:

  • Consider service bundling and new naming conventions.
  • Create tiered memberships aligned with your new identity.
  • Phase out or reposition any outdated services that no longer serve your direction.
  1. Plan the Rollout

Timing matters. Plan a phased or official launch:

  • Soft Launch – Update your logo, website, and in-store visuals quietly at first to ease into the transition.
  • Official Relaunch – Target late September or early October for a full reveal, when seasonal marketing resets and wellness routines pick up.

Be sure to update:

  • Website & booking platform
  • Google My Business and map listings
  • Social media handles and bios
  • In-salon signage, uniforms, and printed materials
  • Email headers and automations
  1. Communicate With Customers

Rebranding can confuse loyal clients—unless you bring them along for the journey.

  • Announce your changes with clarity and enthusiasm.
  • Share your “why” in newsletters, social posts, and in person.
  • Emphasize what’s not changing—such as ownership, service quality, or pricing (unless it is).
  • Offer “sneak peeks,” rebranding specials, or giveaways to generate buzz.
  1. Train Your Team

Your team is your brand’s frontline. Make sure they:

  • Understand and can articulate the new brand focus.
  • Are familiar with new service offerings, product positioning, and membership changes.
  • Feel excited—not blindsided—by the transformation.

Hold a pre-launch team meeting or mini event to reinforce the direction and generate buy-in.

A New Chapter Done Right

More than a cosmetic makeover, rebranding is a message to your clients and community. It signals growth, intention, and alignment with where you’re headed. With the right planning, late summer can be the start of your salon’s most confident and compelling chapter yet.
