A majority of indoor tanning salons are operating the same hours in 2012 as they did in 2011, a SmartTan.com poll conducted in June suggests.

According to the poll, 58 percent of salons kept the same hours this year. One-quarter of salons — 25 percent — said they are working longer hours this year. Only 17 percent are working shorter hours, according to the poll.

“Hours are a convenience issue,” Smart Tan Executive Director Joseph Levy said. “We consider this in line with other polls, showing that salons continue to find more ways to keep their clients’ business and that salons are finding different ways to succeed.”
