Five out of six North American tanning businesses say that record warm temperatures this spring and summer took a bite out of their bottom line, according to a SmartTan.com poll conducted this week.
According to the poll, 83 percent of stores were hurt by warm weather that prematurely ushered out tanning’s busiest spring season. Only 8 percent felt the weather helped their business this year, while another 8 percent said the weather had no impact.
Almost all of North America — except for southwestern Canada — reported record warm temperatures for much of the spring and early summer.
