More than a quarter of indoor tanning businesses have no full-time employees, according to a SmartTan.com poll held this month.
In the poll, 28 percent of businesses said they have zero full-time employees, while most, 42 percent, said they have one to three full-time employees. 15 percent said that their business has four to seven full-time employees and another 15 percent said they have eight or more employees.
Hiring part-time employees is a benefit for small businesses in terms of cost and flexibility. A staff comprised of mostly part-timers allows businesses to schedule workers only when they need them, and not waste money on unnecessary payroll during the slow season. Full-time employees are helpful for maintaining consistency and commitment to the company, but are not always a practical choice for smaller, independent businesses.
