Thirty-three tanning business owners won more than $105,000 in prizes in the “Wheel of Smart Tan” prize give-away game show that closed Smart Tan’s 16th Annual Convention, Smart Tan Downtown, Sunday afternoon in downtown Nashville.

The three-day conference and two-day trade show — Smart Tan’s 15th annual convention — attracted more than 2,000 tanning retailers from across North America. The Smart Tan conference included dozens of workshop sessions on every aspect of salon operations, a foundation program introducing Smart Tan’s new training system and marketing programs for member salons for 2011-12.

The trade show floor included every major supplier in the tanning market and was larger than the 2010 event. Preliminary reports from manufacturers on the floor suggested increased sales from 2010 — a sign that retailers are following through with thei optimistic 2012 outlook reported in SmartTan.com polls this year.
