While the options for playing music have diversified greatly in recent years, good old fashion radio is still the most common medium used to play tunes in indoor tanning businesses, according to a recent SmartTan.com poll.
More than one-third of salons said they play AM/FM radio. While the largest group is sticking with AM/FM, the poll does show that many salons are experimenting with newer music options. Satellite radio and Internet radio are both used by 23 percent of respondents. Just 9 percent said they play stored files from a computer, phone or MP3 player, and 8 percent said they play CDs.
In the December issue of Smart Tan Magazine, consultant Kizer & Bender discussed how the music in your salon can affect the customer experience and what you need to do to make sure you have the legal right to play certain music in your business.
