Australian Gold® launches new contest with first ever Mobile App with Salon Locator

Australian Gold® is excited to announce The Best Tan Contest that kicks off in January and runs until March 16^th, 2011.  This promotion gives tanners a chance to show off their gorgeous tan, win a cruise to the Bahamas, and win other great prizes while utilizing an industry-first Australian Gold mobile app!

The Best Tan Contest allows users to upload a photo and be entered into the Best Tan Contest.  Entrants are then encouraged to share their photo to get the most likes.  The grand prize winner will win a cruise to the Bahamas for two, $5,000 in spending cash, a professional modeling photo shoot and a tear sheet of images.  Now that is a serious GRAND PRIZE!

Even if users do not upload an image into the Best Tan Contest, they are still eligible to win prizes, like a 3-day Bahamas Cruise, by simply voting for an image that is in the contest already.  Voting and checking-in, via the mobile application, also allows users to become eligible for random drawings that include UGG® footwear, Colts gear and other great prizes.

Users can download the Australian Gold mobile app for free if they have an Apple or Android SmartPhone.  Simply go to the APP Store on your Smart Phone or device and search Australian Gold.  Vice President of Brand Awareness for Australian Gold, Katie Stam says, “The app is an amazing new feature for customers who love convenience.  It’s free; it’s easy to use and gives everyone a chance to win great prizes.  We have even created a ‘how-to’ video on our Facebook page for those new to this technology.”

The Australian Gold Mobile App has three easy-to-use tabs: Best Tan Contest, Locations and Check-in.  The Best Tan Contest tab allows users to browse photos that have been submitted for voting, users can then vote for their favorite tan or upload a photo of their own!  The Locations tab is a great tool to find the tanning salon closest to the user.  It provides addresses and phones numbers to salons surrounding the user at their current location.  And finally, the Check-in feature allows users to check-in at the tanning salon for additional chances to win great prizes which drives consumers to the salon.

Another great feature launching with the Best Tan Contest is our Perfect Skin Care Match Slider.  This allows users to identify their skin type by clicking on the Cheerleader that closely matches their skin tone.  The user can then “slide” up the bar to see a dark skin tone on the Cheerleader.  At each level an Australian Gold tanning product is recommended to achieve similar results.  There is a base lotion recommendation for just starting out, a tan building recommendation and a plateau breaking recommendation to get the darkest, color possible.
