Health News Digest on the internet is promoting a new book by a Canadian physician who tells his patients sunlight is the best source of vitamin D — which he refers to as the “anti-death vitamin” — and that fears of skin cancer have been overblown.
Dr. Zoltan Rona, MD, is a Toronto based physician in private practice and is a past-president of the Canadian Holistic Medical Association and has written several books on natural health and served as the medical editor for the Encyclopedia of Natural Healing.
“Sun phobia, sunscreens, and spending too much time indoors has resulted in at least 70% of North Americans being deficient in Vitamin D. This deficiency is one of the root causes of a number of chronic conditions, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and a host of autoimmune diseases. Completely referenced, Dr. Rona cites cases and studies that demonstrate how vitamin D supplementation can aid in the healing of these major illnesses and other common health conditions and can help prevent occurrence,” Health News Digest reports.
“Direct sunlight is still the best source,” the story continues. “Fears of sun exposure contributing to skin cancer can be laid to rest. The latest research shows that survival rates from melanoma can actually be improved with safe exposure to the sun.”
