Client Visits Dropping, Poll Says

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012

Tanning business clients are making fewer salon visits than they did in 2010, according to a poll conducted in May — another indication that success models for tanning businesses are evolving.

According to the latest poll, 48 percent of salons say that the average client visits their business less often today as compared with two years ago. One third — 33 percent — say clients are visiting more often. The other 19 percent say client counts are about the same. The poll is informal.

“This is consistent with what we’re seeing in the market right now,” Smart Tan Executive Director Joseph Levy said. “The economy is a factor positively influencing client counts in many regions, but the salons succeeding overall are finding ways to increase transactions per client even if client counts aren’t increasing.”
