Foursquare Rewarding GTL Lifestyle

MTV has partnered with Foursquare, a geo-location social media firm, to allow users of the application to earn a “Jersey Shore” themed badge. According to the Wall Street Journal, the badge is a reward for living the GTL lifestyle, a term that Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino came up with on the show to represent his lifestyle of Gym-Tan-Laundry.gtlfoursquare

In order to gain the badge, users must check in at a gym, indoor tanning retailer and laundromat in a seven day time span. For a business to participate in the badge, they must have profile on Foursquare. This profile can either be created by the business themselves or users of the application.

When users check into all three facilities they are rewarded with a fist pumping badge and this message:

“Fresh to death! You’ve checked in for the GTL. Don’t miss the new season of the Jersey Shore – Thursdays at 10P/9C on MTV. Now pump that fist and dodge those grenades!”

Foursquare can be a great way to promote your indoor tanning retail business by allowing users to advertise their patronage of your business to all their friends.
