Several indoor tanning companies took advantage of last week’s $550 million Powerball lottery jackpot by using the jackpot as a way to drive traffic to salon facebook pages.
Florida-based South Beach Tanning Company purchased a Powerball ticket and promised those who clicked “like” on its facebook page a share of the jackpot if the ticket turned out to be the winner. South Beach’s Powerball promotion gained 17,326 facebook “likes.”
Kentucky-based Sun Tan City did even better – getting 63,264 facebook “likes” from the same type of promotion.
