In the late ’80s, Susan Carlton was going through a recent divorce and looking for something to occupy her time. She decided to open a tanning salon and operated it for eight years, then tragedy struck and her so passed away. She decided to close up shop and took a year off. She later worked for a small distributor in Florida when she was discovered by California Tan and hired. When Australian Gold bough California Tan she stayed on with the company. Now she is the Regional Sales Manager at New Sunshine Brands, LLC. In a Smart Tan exclusive interview, she shared the latest hot products from New Sunshine and her top tips for selling lotion.
Q: Australian Gold premiered “Superior,” a luxury brand of lotion. What makes this lotion superior and why did Australian Gold choose to create this type of lotion?
A: Australian Gold did really well recently with high-end lotions and Superior is steps above their ultra collection. It is the skin care properties of our products at New Sunshine that sets us apart from the competition, and this one is indeed phenomenal. It may not be everyone’s price point, but neither are Louis Vuitton bags. There is always a person who wants the best! Tanners get bored easily, and of the client has used all of the products in a certain line, the client isn’t going to be happy and will switch brands. If you come out with a better, high-end product you have a built-in clientele.
