Tanning Trends magazine, Smart Tan’s monthly magazine serving the North American indoor tanning industry since 1985, has been re-named “Smart Tan magazine” beginning with the January 2010 issue, Smart Tan Chairman Matt D. Russell announced.
Russell — who with his father, Robert D. Russell, launched Tanning Trends as the industry’s first trade publication for the fledgling indoor tanning market in 1985 — says the change represents the fact that the magazine is a beacon for the entire association.
“Smart Tan is a name that I hope is synonymous with industry-wide education and a dedication to spreading the tanning truth, and I can’t think of a sounder tribute to my Dad than to take what he started and make it even better,” Russell said. “This is also the perfect time for a fresh new name that represents unity across the boarders, for January is the flagship issue of our Smart Tan Canada publication.”
