The majority of indoor tanning businesses say they have clients that are medical doctors, according to a SmartTan.com poll taken this month.

Sixty-seven percent said they do have medical doctors than tan at their salons, and 33 percent said they do not. These numbers are nearly identical to the results of a 2008 SmartTan.com poll in which 66 percent said they did have medical doctors that tanned at their salons.

This finding seems to confirm that many in the medical community are taking note of the emerging scientific data that shows that moderate, non-burning sun exposure — whether outdoors under the sun or indoors in a professional salon — is a natural part of a healthy lifestyle.
