More than six out of 10 tanning business owners say their business is stronger today tan it was at this time in 2010, according to the results of a SmartTan.com poll conducted in early September — another indication that the tanning community is moving forward.

According to the poll, 61 percent say their business is in a stronger position today than it was one year ago. One quarter of those polled — 25 percent — said their business was in a weaker position today. The remaining 14 percent said there was no difference. The poll does not include businesses that have closed in the past year.

“This poll, combined with other polls, continues to paint the picture that there are winners in the tanning market right now who have found formulas to move ahead and are doing just that,” Smart Tan Vice President Joseph Levy said. “That’s what we will be examining at Smart Tan’s educational conference and trade show in Downtown Nashville next month — what are the winning formulas right now.”
