“It isn’t so much that it will hurt my business, but these kids are going to go on vacation and get a sunburn and that’s dangerous for the skin. What’s going to happen to these kids?” — Smart Tan member Bradi Hanrahan, owner of Surfside Tan in Hornell, NY, as quoted in the Hornell Evening Tribune.
New York is considering legislation to prohibit clients under 18 from using UV tanning services at tanning facilities. Hanrahan told the paper the current law is strong enough to protect teens, and that she has clients who come in with their whole families to tan before going on vacations. Those families would only be able to protect over-18 children from sunburns on vacations.
