More than 5 out of 6 tanning facility owners say the incorporation of a 10 percent tax on indoor tanning as part of Health Care Legislation this year has affected how they will cast their votes for congressional leaders in November, according to a SmartTan.com poll conducted in September.
According to the SmartTan.com poll, 87 percent say the tax has affected how they will vote.
“The most logical way to read this is that tanning business owners will be voting against those who forced a 10 percent luxury tax on tanning into this bill as a horse-trade with the Botox Lobby without any process, representation, economic impact or thought,” Smart Tan Vice President Joseph Levy said. “It’s also likely that many of the 13 percent who say their vote will be unaffected by the 10 percent tax were already going to vote for someone who didn’t vote “yes” on the bill.
