Salons Incorporating Sunless into Memberships

In a recent SmartTan.com poll, more than one-third of salons said they offer packages that include both UV and Sunless services.

As sunless has become an integral aspect of indoor tanning businesses, sunless services are being more frequently integrated into EFT systems with sunless-only memberships, combined memberships, or sunless add-ons to UV memberships. The overall popularity of the UV and sunless “cocktail” also seems to be on the rise.

“Salon owners used to think you were either a sunless or a UV user, but now you have a lot more customers who use both,” Sunless Inc.’s Jill Frank told us earlier this year, “That’s why promoting cocktails is so important. Even if clients don’t get sunless everywhere, it can complement UV sessions by enhancing hard-to-tan areas like the face or legs. And for lower-level UV tanners, cocktails can get them to try a higher-level bed than usual.”

Along with combining the two services into one membership, salons are incorporating sunless-only memberships, using pricing structures much like their UV EFT options. EFT is a wonderful option to keep your sunless-only clients coming back. Create a monthly sunless membership that offers VIP value and discounts on retail products. Your clients will be happy to have an affordable way to maintain their color year round. The trick here is to solidify your position as an expert through limits. Your clients may misunderstand that EFT means they get unlimited use of your sunless equipment, but it is your job to make sure they aren’t getting sprayed too often though a package that encourages them to visit every five to seven days.

For your UV tanners who already have an EFT membership or package, make it easy for them to add on a single session at a reduced price. Smart tanning businesses are also incorporating sunless into their UV memberships as a way to increase value and promote related services. Whether you do that by offering sunless to your top tier EFT or by doling it out at each level, it’s a thoughtful way to show appreciation to your clients while creating loyalty to a new service.
