Smart Tan CEO Matt Russell had the opportunity to visit the central office and manufacturing facility for industry leading sunbed developer KBL AG this April in Dernbach, Germany. Accompanied by KBL CEO Christina Lorenz and Susan Miller, CEO of PC Tan, the exclusive KBL North American importer, Russell experienced first-hand the process of producing a world-class sunbed.
“It was a truly awesome experience to get a look at everything that goes into making these incredible pieces of equipment,” Russell says. “The facility is so technically advanced – it was almost like stepping into the future.”
Along with receiving a tour of KBL’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to get a look at the technical aspects of the process, Russell met with KBL leaders to discuss the state of the tanning market in Europe.
“The European tanning market is always a few years ahead of where we stand in the U.S., so we can learn a lot by looking at the trends that are happening there,” Russell says. “It was very interesting to see a strong focus on vitamin D and collagen production with KBL’s units under production for Europe and other parts of the world.”
As one of the world’s leading lighting specialists, KBL has been developing, manufacturing and selling premium sunbeds since 1993. Over the years, the company has steadily and consistently expanded into the international brand it is today. KBL products combine sustainability and individuality – because it is their philosophy to provide everybody with the individual advice and treatment that will be of long-term benefit for their lives. A steady exchange with physicians, scientists and health experts from the wellness sector are the basis for KBL product developments. This allows them to create products and applications in the premium segment that do not merely “function,” but also put people and their individual desires at the center stage.
“As their exclusive North American importer, we are so happy for the great partnership we have with KBL,” says Miller. “As many times as I go there, it’s always a great experience to see what they are working on for the future, so it was a great opportunity to take Matt Russell on his first visit to the manufacturer in Germany and share that excitement with him.”
