Six out of 10 indoor tanning facility owners believe that their 2011 business performance will improve from this year, according to a SmartTan.com poll conducted in October — a solid sign that optimism is still prevailing in the indoor tanning community.

According to the poll, 60 percent say they expect their tanning business performance in 2011 will improve, while only one in six — 16 percent — think 2011 will bring a decline. About one-quarter — 24 percent — think 2011 will be about the same.

“The tanning market has always been optimistic in nature — and for a good reason,” Smart Tan Vice President Joseph Levy said. “Humanity is turning back to regular, moderate sun exposure and we are a part of that equation. With signs in place of an economic turnaround, the tanning community has excellent players in place to warrant a sunny outlook.”
