“The sun is our most natural source. It’s how our bodies were made to get it.” — Carole Baggerly, founder of GrassrootsHealth — a San Diego vitamin D advocacy group that organized a major vitamin D conference this month on the University of California-San Diego campus. Baggerly was interviewed by MSNBC in a story headlined, “Vitamin D Can Prevent Disease.”
“Baggerly says drinking more milk or eating fish high in vitamin D will not solve the problem,” MSNBC reported. A full body tan can make 10,000 to 25,000 international units of vitamin D — more than 100 times the amount fortified into an 8-ounce glass of whole milk.
MSNBC reported that, “Doctors say there are more than 2,000 studies showing the benefits of proper levels of vitamin D.”
