Laurie and Bruce Adee have lived in Seattle, Washington for 44 years. On the north end of the rapidly growing city, they have enjoyed raising their two sons wile working in education, surrounded by some of Puget Sound’s most breathtaking views.

Bruce was a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Washington, and Laurie was the fiscal secretary at a middle school. Originally from Long Island, it was Bruce’s PhD work at the University of California, Berkeley and job offer at the University of Washington that drew them to the Pacific Coast.

One of their sons was friends with a founder of the Desert Sun salon chain. As he expressed his interest in the business, Laurie and Bruce saw a good opportunity. Excited by the prospect of doing something on their own and having the benefits and responsibility of independence, they began on a completely new journey in the indoor tanning industry.
