TODAY’S HEADLINE STORY: Tanning community still divided between gainers and trailers

More than six out of ten indoor tanning facility owners say that business in January met or exceeded expectations, according to a poll conducted this month.

2009-02-10-rule-of-thirds-copy.jpgAccording to the poll, 39 percent felt their business in January exceeded expectations, 24 percent felt business met expectations, with 37 percent feeling business fell short of expectations. The results are not scientific, but are consistent with poll findings in the past year.

“January’s business conditions have not changed the dynamic in our market: the trends here continues to be the same,” Smart Tan Vice President Joseph Levy said. “For the past year, these polls have indicated that about one-third of salons are doing better than expected, one-third are meeting expectations and another third are struggling. Our discussions with players on all levels in this market support that conclusion as well.”
