Dallas Ross and Brandon Scott claim that tanning is in their blood. While you might not be able to identify it under a microscope, you could certainly tell from their unwavering passion for X-Treme Tan and the Cedar Park, Texas community.

Their journey to success began on a rocky road when Dallas bought into a local chain of tanning salons. As a 20 percent owner of multiple locations, he was forced to suscribe to unappealing practices. When the business started to experience financial problems, the owner gave Dallas 100 percent ownership of his store while the other three locations shut down. Instead of fighting against the current of a business built on policies he didn’t believe in, he decided to strike out on his own.

“I think the chain was a great test run to create what we wanted. It was sweet and sour,” says Brandon.

In June 2011, Dallas and Brandon reformed an existing salon to reflect their vision. Taking into account the lessons they learned from the chain, they decided to name the salon X-Treme Tan – “where tanning is more than a luxury, it’s a science,” according to their motto.

Between Dallas’s 20-year real estate experience and Brandon’s career comprised solely of jobs in the tanning industry, it was the perfect partnership to keep the business thriving logistically and creatively. But as they prepare to celebrate the second anniversary of the salon, they have realized that their true partners are the customers, the community and the indoor tanning industry.
