Just under half of suntan salons primarily reward their employees with cash, according to a SmartTan.com poll conducted in January.

The poll found that the majority of salons give their employees cash or free product as rewards. Forty-nine percent of salons say they reward employees with cash and 30 percent reward them with free products.

A smaller percentage, 16 percent, reward their staff with gift cards and just 5 percent give paid time off as a reward.
