A recent SmartTan.com poll found that just under half of salons have been in business for more than 10 years.

A total of 48 percent of salons said they have been open for at least ten years, and 19 percent have been open for more than 20 years. Twenty-eight percent, the most common response, said they have been in business for six to 10 years.

It’s a positive sign that so many salons have endured 20-plus years in a relatively young industry. That just under one-fourth of salons have opened their doors within the last five years is also an indication of continued optimism within the industry.
