Seven out of 10 indoor tanning businesses say spray tanning has become a bigger part of their business in 2011, according to a SmartTan.com poll conducted in the first week of November.
According to the poll, only 7 percent say spray tanning declined in prevalence in their stores. Another 22 percent saw no change from 2010.
“There is no doubt that more stores are combining packages with spray and UV tanning, and that has become a popular option for tanning clients,” Smart Tan Vice President Joseph Levy said. “Spray tanning used to be regarded as an add-on to a tanning business or even as a competitor. Today it’s becoming an integral component of a full-service tanning operation.”
