It’s no secret that in today’s society, when someone is looking for information on a business, the first place they go to is Google. Before they ask their friends for recommendations, they’re seeing what Google has to tell them. And in a time where most people have some sort of smartphone that allows them to access Google at any time and in any place, you better make sure your business is being well represented.

Something that a lot of small business owners overlook is their Google profile. Google offers a service called My Business (google.com/business) that allows you to customize how your business listing appears to potential customers — phone number, hours, pictures, map listing, etc. There’s absolutely no cost to use this service, so there’s really no reason why you shouldn’t be actively maintaining your business’s online appearance.
