After some research, Instagram posted on its blog about the ways some of its most successful brands are utilizing its services, including these:

  1. To thine own self, be true. Always stay true to your brand. Don’t get out of your lane in attempt to gain more viewers – just be authentic and stick to what you know and do best.
  2. Prize experiences. Don’t just show a picture of a new product or equipment – show how it works. Instagram video is a great option for showcasing the features and functionality of equipment or showing how to properly use products. Before and after shots are a great option for out market as well.
  3. Seek meaning. Use photos to show that your company is more than what meets the eye. It’s not just a place to get a tan – it’s an important part of its clients’ lives. Try featuring clients and showing how your salon helps them live a more enjoyable life.
  4. Inspire community action. Use Instagram and other social media to create an online tanning community, or even broaden it to encompass anything involving beauty, fitness, or anything else that your prototypical client is into. Try to get the ball rolling with your own hashtag!
  5. Be self-aware. Perhaps most importantly, you have to have a solid understanding of what it is that your customers love about your brand. If you can characterize that passion on your Instagram, it will definitely be a great marketing tool.
